The Back-up Plan

FALL IN LOVE. GET MARRIED. HAVE A BABY. NOT NECESSARILY IN THAT ORDER.

New Yorker Zoe (Jennifer Lopez) gives up the hunt for Mr. Right and decides to have a baby on her own; then, on the same day that she’s artificially inseminated, she runs into Stan (Alex O’Loughlin). The star’s first film in three years shows that she hasn’t gotten any better at picking good projects. She’s fine in the lead, but O’Loughlin is weaker and the movie isn’t particularly funny or romantic. I feel like I want to scream at the screen, “Stop acting like idiots and everything will be fine”.

2010-U.S. 104 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Alan Poul. Cast: Jennifer Lopez (Zoe), Alex O’Loughlin (Stan), Michaela Watkins (Mona), Eric Christian Olsen, Anthony Anderson, Noureen DeWulf… Tom Bosley, Melissa McCarthy.

Trivia: Bosley’s last film.
