Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole

ON HIS WAY TO FINDING A LEGEND… HE WILL BECOME ONE.

Two young barn owls are kidnapped by other owls and later held as slaves by the evil Pure Ones; however, they are about to learn that the mythical Guardians of Ga’Hoole really do exist… A 3D fairy tale for kids that is dark, but not as blood-soaked as director Zack Snyder’s usual fare. This is an opportunity for him to show off the latest innovations in CGI, and it does look great, but the story lacks charisma and simply isn’t very exciting. Ends with a standard Snyder battle, albeit PG-rated.

2010-U.S.-Australia. Animated. 97 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by¬†Zack Snyder. Novels: Kathryn Lasky. Voices of Helen Mirren (Nyra), Geoffrey Rush (Ezylryb), Jim Sturgess (Soren), Hugo Weaving, Emily Barclay, Abbie Cornish… Sam Neill, Anthony LaPaglia.

Trivia: Hugh Jackman was allegedly first cast.
