When one of Ben Gates’s (Nicolas Cage) ancestors is revealed to have been part of the Abraham Lincoln assassination plot, the historian/adventurer and his friends try to clear his name. A surprisingly entertaining sequel that reunites the Cage/Jon Voight/Diane Kruger/Justin Bartha team and delivers the same kind of adventure for history and conspiracy buffs that we were offered in the first film. Never dull; Jon Turteltaub paces it well and throws in a few good action sequences… but the jokes fall flat and the story is a little too silly at times.
