IF BAD PEOPLE HURT SOMEONE YOU LOVE, HOW FAR WOULD YOU GO TO HURT THEM BACK?
A convict (Garret Dillahunt) is rescued by his equally brutal partners; while fleeing from the law, they encounter first two teenage girls, then a family. The remake of Wes Craven’s classic 1972 horror movie stays pretty close to the original, but tries to be as grimly realistic and serious-minded as possible, challenging its audience to ponder the impact of violence. Well made in most respects, but dishonest; the filmmakers portray the killing and maiming with as much love and flair as other slasher directors.
