Misanthropic New Yorker Boris Yellnikoff (Larry David) reluctantly agrees to let a runaway Mississippi girl (Evan Rachel Wood) stay in his apartment and a complicated relationship evolves.Ā After arguing his way through six seasons ofĀ Curb Your Enthusiasm, it was easy to get enthusiastic about David taking his TV alter ego to Woody Allenās world. Heās amusing as the annoyingly opinionated Boris, but the movie wouldnāt work without its strong supporting cast, including Patricia Clarkson and Ed Begley, Jr. as Woodās folks. The story is slight but charmingā¦ and Boris turns out to be right about āwhatever worksā when it comes to love.

Quote:Ā āMy father committed suicide because the morning newspapers depressed him. And could you blame him? With the horror, and corruption, and ignorance, and poverty, and genocide, andĀ AIDS, and global warming, and terrorism, and-and the family value morons, and the gun morons. āThe horror,ā Kurtz said at the end of āHeart of Darknessā, āthe horror.ā Lucky Kurtz didnāt have the Times delivered in the jungle.
