I Love You, Beth Cooper

FIVE LITTLE WORDS CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE.

In his high school graduation speech, nerdy Denis Cooverman (Paul Rust) tells the most popular girl (Hayden Panettiere) in school that he loves her… which leads to an unforgettable night. Director Chris Columbus returns to his roots with a John Hughes-type movie that shares a few traits with Adventures in Babysitting (1987). The Simpsons veteran Larry Doyle adapted his own book for a film that has funny dialogue, likable leads and the occasional moment of insight, but is burdened by too many stupid scenes where Rust battles bullies.

2009-U.S.-Canada. 102 min. Color. Directed byĀ Chris Columbus. Screenplay, Novel: Larry Doyle. Cast: Hayden Panettiere (Beth Cooper), Paul Rust (Denis Cooverman), Jack T. Carpenter (Rich Munsch), Lauren London, Lauren Storm, Shawn Roberts.
