Deja Vu

IF YOU THOUGHT IT WAS JUST A TRICK OF THE MIND, PREPARE YOURSELF FOR THE TRUTH.Ā

A ferry explodes in New Orleans on Mardi Gras, killing hundreds;Ā ATFĀ agent Doug Carlin (Denzel Washington) starts looking for clues and learns that theĀ FBIĀ has found a way to look into the past.Ā Tony Scott is one of few directors who could pull this movie off without descending completely into silliness. Grabbing one’s attention with exciting action scenes and pulse-pounding energy, he makes you believe in the FBI’s contraption; it also helps when your movie is anchored by a solid lead performance. Still, the story goes on for too long and Doug’s fascination with Paula Patton’s character is unconvincing.

2006-U.S. 126 min. Color. Widescreen.Ā Produced byĀ Jerry Bruckheimer.Ā Directed byĀ Tony Scott.Ā Cast:Ā Denzel Washington (Doug Carlin), Paula Patton (Claire Kuchever), Val Kilmer (Paul Pryzwarra), Jim Caviezel, Adam Goldberg, Elden Henson… Bruce Greenwood.
