The New Daughter

HOW FAR WOULD A FATHER GO TO PROTECT THE ONES HE LOVES?

John James (Kevin Costner), recently divorced, moves into a new home with his two children, but fails to notice the ominous burial mound near the house. Feature directing debut for the guy who wrote the Spanish horror movie [ā€¢Rec] (2007), but this direct-to-DVD chiller leaves a lot to desire. It takes forever to get started, has a tired formula and its ghosts or demons or whatever make little sense. What’s really sad about the movie is watching Costner waste his time.

2009-U.S. 108 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed byĀ Luis Berdejo. Short Story: John Connolly. Cast: Kevin Costner (John James), Ivana Baquero (Louisa James), Samantha Mathis (Cassandra Parker), Gattlin Griffith, Erik Palladino, Noah Taylor.
