Cliffhanger

HANG ON!

cliffhanger$100 million of federal money is stolen in mid-air but the criminals crash-land in the Rockies and the cash (stacked into three cases) is lost; two climbers are forced to help locate them at gunpoint.Ā Director Renny Harlin initially didnā€™t feel like making anotherĀ Die Hard 2, but thatā€™s basically what heā€™s done here ā€“ and it turns out to be one of Sly Stalloneā€™s best action movies. Good stunt work in the Dolomites (supposed to look like the Rockies), thrilling, brutal action sequences and a scenery-chewing, utterly evil performance by John Lithgow will make you forget about illogical aspects of the script and a few scenes that are a bit too silly to be believed.

1993-U.S.-France. 118 min. Color. Widescreen. Produced byĀ Renny Harlin, Alan Marshall. Directed byĀ Renny Harlin. Screenplay: Sylvester Stallone, Michael France. Music: Trevor Jones. Cast: Sylvester Stallone (Gabe Walker), John Lithgow (Eric Qualen), Michael Rooker (Hal Tucker), Janine Turner, Paul Winfield, Ralph Waite.

Trivia:Ā Christopher Walken was allegedly considered for the part of Qualen.

Last word: “Most of the climbing in ‘Cliffhanger’ is real. We shot for 5 months in the Italian Alps in extreme conditions. Sly (who claimed that he had a fear of heights) was a REAL trooper and did everything I asked him to do. I confess that I LOVE digital. I grew up with film and love to touch it and smell it but with digital you can make any of your dreams come true.” (Harlin answering chat questions about the movie and digital filmmaking on Reddit)
