IF YOU HAD THE OPPORTUNITY, WOULD YOU?
Constance Sumner (Diane Lane) begins a love affair with a young, French book dealer (Olivier Martinez), which only causes grief for them both, as well as Constanceās husband (Richard Gere). Another movie from director Adrian Lyne about sex with dangerous consequences; this time itās a remake of La Femme InfidĆØle (1969), a Claude Chabrol thriller. The actors are good. Lane gives a complex, human performance ā sexy, vulnerable, sometimes difficult to like. Her character is doomed and so is everyone else, we learn. We understand early on where it’s headed, but this is a dark and elegant film with a haunting story and attractive locations.Ā
