THE SHOW WAS CANCELED… BUT THE ADVENTURE HAS ONLY BEGUN.

A group of actors, who once starred on a Star Trek-type TV show, are contacted by real aliens who thought they were watching a documentary and now need the “space travelers’” help against a powerful enemy. A great idea for a movie is at the center of this affectionate spoof, which examines what the “reality” behind a cult phenomenon like Star Trek can look like, disillusioned actors, obsessive fans and all. Tim Allen is fun as the William Shatner type, Alan Rickman excellent as the sarcastic “Spock” character, and having Sigourney Weaver play against type as an ample blonde is also enjoyable. The quality of the special effects makes the movie more than just funny, almost thrilling.
