Addams Family Values

THE FAMILY JUST GOT A LITTLE STRANGER.

addamsfamilyvaluesA nanny (Joan Cusack) is hired to look after the Addams’s newborn, but she has ulterior motives; her first step is to get rid of the other kids by sending them to a hellishly cheerful summer camp. The sequel is just as chock-full of hilarious one-liners as the original, perhaps even more so; that along with the cast is what keeps you enjoying the movie, because once again the story is nothing special. What we have here is essentially a stretched-out sitcom episode, but handsomely produced and very amusing. Hard to pick favorites, but Christine Baranski and Peter MacNicol are brilliant as the perky camp leaders.

1993-U.S. 93 min. Color. Directed by Barry Sonnenfeld. Song: ”Addams Family (Whoomp!)” (performed by Tag Team). Cast: Anjelica Huston (Morticia Addams), Raul Julia (Gomez Addams), Christopher Lloyd (Fester Addams), Joan Cusack, Christina Ricci, Carol Kane… Nathan Lane, Peter Graves, Tony Shalhoub, David Hyde Pierce, Cynthia Nixon.

Trivia: Followed by a direct-to-DVD sequel, Addams Family Reunion (1998).

Razzie: Worst Original Song.

Quote: “You’ll meet someone. Someone very special. Someone who won’t press charges.” (Julia trying to cheer Lloyd up)
