THE MADDEST COMICS OF THE SCREEN!
The Marx Brothersā third film with an animal in the title is so out of control that I can barely tell you the plot; suffice it to say that it takes place in a university, Groucho is the unlikely president, Chico and Harpo his bumbling assistants and the whole thing ends with a football game thatās wilder than usual. Lots of slapstick and funny oneliners; not all of it works, but most of it does. The movie has a great opening with Groucho giving a speech to the students and topping it off with a hilarious showstopper; there are other memorable music acts. Thelma Todd is very amusing as Zeppoās girlfriend.

Last word: “I did two films with [the Marx Brothers], which in its way is perhaps my greatest distinction in life, because anybody who ever worked on any picture for the Marx Brothers said he would rather be chained to a galley oar and lashed at ten-minute intervals than ever work for these sons-of-bitches again.” (Perelman, TCM)
