FRANCE DOESN’T STAND A CHANCE.
Mr. Bean (Rowan Atkinson) wins a trip to Cannes; on his bumbling way to the Riviera, he befriends a Russian boy (Max Baldry). Atkinson reportedly stated that this sequel to Bean (1997) will be the character’s last appearance. Let’s hope so. Haphazardly put together, this kid-friendly comedy wants to be another Mr. Hulot’s Holiday (1953), but it is painfully unfunny and illogical… and Atkinson even has the gall to once again recycle some old Bean gags from the TV show.
2007-U.S.-Britain. 88 min. Color. Directed by Steve Bendelack. Cast: Rowan Atkinson (Mr. Bean), Emma de Caunes (Sabine), Max Baldry (Stepan), Willem Dafoe, Jean Rochefort, Karel Roden.
