Godsend

ADAM DUNCAN. BORN: DECEMBER 11, 1987. DIED: DECEMBER 12, 1995. BORN: SEPTEMBER 23, 1996.

Researcher Richard Wells (Robert De Niro) offers a grieving couple (Greg Kinnear, Rebecca Romijn-Stamos) a chance to have their dead son back; they listen to him but the new, cloned boy has his share of dangerous flaws. The writer shows a fleeting interest in the moral aspects of cloning human beings; he finds it much more rewarding to focus on cheap thrills. Boring? Certainly not, but we all know where it’s heading and it is very hard to believe in the characters’ emotions. De Niro looks like his mind is focused primarily on the paycheck.

2004-U.S.-Canada. 102 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Nick Hamm. Cast: Greg Kinnear (Paul Duncan), Rebecca Romijn-Stamos (Jessie Duncan), Robert De Niro (Richard Wells), Cameron Bright (Adam Duncan), Jenny Levine.
