A COMIC TALE OF HORROR AND SEDUCTION.
Maximilian (Eddie Murphy), a vampire, leaves his Caribbean home for Brooklyn where he hopes to find the woman (Angela Bassett) he loves; she turns out to be a cop. A collaboration between the star and horror director Wes Craven is so weird it has to be seen, but their stab at another Innocent Blood (1992) is neither funny nor scary. This is essentially a new version of the Bram Stoker perennial, with plenty of visual effects, but Murphy is all wrong for the vampire part. He plays several characters in the film, but Maximilian is his least successful.
