HOW DO YOU SOLVE A MURDER WHEN ALL THE EVIDENCE POINTS TO YOU?

Matt Whitlock (Denzel Washington), the chief of police of a small Florida town, fools around with a married woman (Sanaa Lathan) and doesn’t realize that he’s about to walk into a trap. Director Carl Franklin reunites with his Devil in a Blue Dress (1995) star for another steamy film noir vehicle, in the vein of Body Heat (1981). If you’re willing to buy the way Denzel gets conned in the beginning of the film (and Lathan is very convincing), then you are going to fall for the remainder of this unoriginal but exciting thriller. Great Florida locations… and no silly twist in the ending.
