TWO STRANGERS FELL IN LOVE. ONE KNEW IT WASN’T BY CHANCE. 

Ad executive Buddy Amaral (Ben Affleck) begins a relationship with Abby Janello (Gwyneth Paltrow) who was married to a man who died in a plane crash; both of them are hiding things from each other. There’s a cloud of guilt hanging over this entire film. That’s interesting and human, even if there really is no big reason for these people to feel so badly about themselves. Paltrow and Affleck do their best and the fact that they don’t look like movie stars is an advantage. But predictability makes it difficult to shed tears near the ending.
