Loch Ness

FOR 1,500 YEARS ONE LEGEND REMAINS UNDISCOVERED, UNDISTURBED, UNTIL NOW.

When the American scientist Jonathan Dempsey (Ted Danson) arrives at Loch Ness in Scotland to prove that there is no monster in the lake, he meets a somewhat hostile widow (Joely Richardson)… It may not quite achieve the effect that Local Hero (1983) had, but that’s what this romantic drama tries to do, with its windy Scottish locations and quirky characters. The two leads are attractive enough and the story moves along nicely, but there’s no depth here whatsoever. What about the monster? Well, Jim Henson’s Creature Shop plays a part…

1996-Britain. 101 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by John Henderson. Cast: Ted Danson (Jonathan Dempsey), Joely Richardson (Laura McFetridge), Ian Holm (Water Bailiff), Harris Yulin, James Frain, Kirsty Graham.
