WHEN SOMEONE YOU LOVE DIES… ARE THEY GONE FOREVER?
Doctor Joe Darrow’s (Kevin Costner) wife dies in a bus accident in Venezuela, but the body is never found; now he’s seeing signs everywhere that are eerie reminders of her. A rare dramatic exercise for director Tom Shadyac who’s made a film that is meant to be both spooky and touching. Unfortunately, it becomes somewhat of a challenge to invest emotionally in the doctor’s plight and feel scared whenever his wife seems to contact him through various means. The supporting cast doesn’t have much to do and the story has its unbelievable moments.
2002-U.S. 103 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Tom Shadyac. Cast: Kevin Costner (Joe Darrow), Kathy Bates (Mrs. Belmont), Joe Morton (Hugh Campbell), Ron Rifkin, Linda Hunt, Susanna Thompson.
Trivia: Harrison Ford was allegedly considered for the lead.
