Driven

WELCOME TO THE HUMAN RACE.

Former racing pro Joe Tanto (Sylvester Stallone) agrees to mentor a troubled new talent, Jimmy Bly (Kip Pardue). Sounds familiar? Sly probably only made a few changes to his old Rocky V script; once again our hero clashes several times with an arrogant competitor. There are no villains here, which is admirable, but the cardboard characters and boredom still do the film in. Neither the central romance nor the spectacular car crashes make the movie worth its running time.

2001-U.S. 117 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed byĀ Renny Harlin. Screenplay: Sylvester Stallone. Cast: Sylvester Stallone (Joe Tanto), Burt Reynolds (Carl Henry), Kip Pardue (Jimmy Bly), Til Schweiger, Stacy Edwards, Estella Warren… Gina Gershon.

Trivia: Co-produced by Harlin and Stallone.

Razzie: Worst Supporting Actress (Warren).
