50 First Dates

IMAGINE HAVING TO WIN OVER THE GIRL OF YOUR DREAMS… EVERY FRIGGIN’ DAY.

Womanizer Henry Roth (Adam Sandler) woos Lucy Whitmore (Drew Barrymore), but learns that she suffers from damage to her short-term memory; he falls for her, but she can never remember him. A movie that looks like it was made by the Farrelly brothers; it has the same mix of gross-out gags and warm feelings. Itā€™s nice to see Sandler as somewhat of a normal and likeable character; he and Barrymore are fine in the leads. The romance works fairly well, but the jokes are cheap and the supporting cast add nothing (Iā€™m looking at you, Rob Schneider).Ā

2004-U.S. 96 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed byĀ Peter Segal. Cast: Adam Sandler (Henry Roth), Drew Barrymore (Lucy Whitmore), Rob Schneider (Ula), Sean Astin, Lusia Strus, Blake Clark… Dan Aykroyd, Maya Rudolph.
