MURDER JUST BECAME A WATER SPORT.
Nathalie (Cameron Diaz), who’s happily married to a judge (Harvey Keitel), suddenly gets a visit from a former lover (Billy Zane) who dies in the couple’s holiday house; Nathalie tries to dispose of the body. With so few changes, the remake of the 1993 Norwegian thriller is fairly pointless. Both Diaz and Keitel are amusing and Alfred Hitchcock’s The Trouble With Harry (1955) must have been a source of inspiration, but things get darker in the story and that challenge becomes too much for the filmmakers to handle in a credible way.
1996-U.S.-Britain. 92 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Jim Wilson. Cast: Harvey Keitel (George), Cameron Diaz (Nathalie), Craig Sheffer (Lance), Billy Zane, Shay Duffin.
