In the 1930s, two bootleggers (Eddie Murphy, Martin Lawrence) happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time and are thrown in prison for a murder they never committed. The story of two men who serve out a life sentence in jail doesn’t sound like suitable material for these comedians, but Murphy and Lawrence are likable. They carry this easygoing movie that never turns perceptive, believable or funny enough (the leads’ constant bickering doesn’t automatically generate great laughs). Excellent makeup design, though.
