Star Trek III: The Search for Spock

A DYING PLANET. A FIGHT FOR LIFE.

The story begins right where the second one left off. After tearfully leaving Spock (Leonard Nimoy), the crew of the Enterprise defies orders and goes back to the paradise planet Genesis (which is about to perish) in order to save his soul. Tension builds expertly and the emotional aspects are quite moving. Kirk (William Shatner) facing a personal challenge of his own becomes the most arresting part of the film, but Christopher Lloyd contributes a sense of humor as a Klingon commander. In a few stirring scenes, the Enterprise also turns out to be quite agile for its age.

1984-U.S. 105 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Leonard Nimoy. Cast: William Shatner (James Kirk), DeForest Kelley (Leonard “Bones” McCoy), James Doohan (Montgomery Scott), George Takei, Walter Koenig, Nichelle Nichols… Christopher Lloyd, Judith Anderson, John Larroquette, Leonard Nimoy.

Trivia: Followed by Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986).
