High Crimes

EVERYTHING YOU TRUST. EVERYTHING YOU KNOW. MAY BE A LIE…

highcrimesA thriller that stays unpredictable enough ā€“Ā until the last fifteen minutes that echoĀ Jagged EdgeĀ (1985) and its very popular ending. Still, it is an entertaining movie and Ashley Judd excels as the strong-minded attorney whose husband (James Caviezel) is arrested and accused of slaughtering several villagers during a military operation. Anyone would be sensible enough not to represent oneā€™s spouse in court, but this is a movie so donā€™t expect Judd to be second chair. Her acting strength is what carries the film and she is ably supported by Morgan Freeman as a boozy lawyer with a bike.

2002-U.S. 115 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed byĀ Carl Franklin. Novel: Joseph Finder. Cast: Ashley Judd (Claire Kubik), Morgan Freeman (Charlie Grimes), James Caviezel (Tom Kubik), Amanda Peet, Adam Scott, Tom Bowerā€¦ Michael Shannon.
