AN UNDERGROUND STORY WHERE LIVES INTERTWINE.
I bet there is a brilliant film to be made about all the originals who lurk around the subway, but this is not that film. Director Luc Besson is a bright visualizer, but the screenplay is a weak accompaniment. The film nevertheless achieved a certain cult status for its portrayal of a few individuals who gather at the Paris métro, including a safecracker (Christopher Lambert) and a woman (Isabelle Adjani) who knows he’s got some documents of hers. The film gains something from the engaging music and directing style; it’s vivid and humorous… but also terribly empty.
