Swan Song

Former hairdresser Pat Pitsenbarger (Udo Kier) leaves his nursing home and goes on a journey to perform one last service to an old customer. The director returned to his Ohio for a movie about gay culture from a senior perspective. Inspired by a real-life hairdresser who meant a lot to him, the film is a tribute to the kind of lifestyle that is unapologetically flamboyant and not trying to adapt to a straight, family-friendly culture. Coasts along thanks to Kierā€™s magnetic performance, but itā€™s little more than a predictable call to find oneā€™s ā€inner divaā€.

2021-U.S. 105 min. Color. Written and directed byĀ Todd Stephens. Cast: Udo Kier (Pat Pitsenbarger), Jennifer Coolidge (Dee Dee Dale), Linda Evans (Rita Parker Sloan), Michael Urie, Ira Hawkins, Stephanie McVay.
