The Best Is Yet to Come

Old friends Arthur and César (Fabrice Luchini, Patrick Bruel) embark on a road trip together; César believes Arthur is dying from cancer, but Arthur knows the real truth… This drama-comedy faces an uphill climb as it begins with a mix-up that remains unbelievable throughout the film. But something happens along the way; we end up caring about these guys. The two stars carry the film, there are many charming and amusing moments (even if the humor is uneven) and in spite of the silly premise there’s a tangible truth and relevance to this portrait of people who understand that life isn’t forever.

2019-France-Belgium. 117 min. Color. Widescreen. Written and directed by Alexandre de la Patellière, Matthieu Delaporte. Cast: Fabrice Luchini (Arthur Dreyfus), Patrick Bruel (César Montesiho), Zineb Triki (Randa Ameziane), Pascale Arbillot, Marie Narbonne, Jean-Marie Winling.

Trivia: Original title: Le meilleur reste à venir.
