Pig

WE DON’T GET A LOT OF THINGS TO REALLY CARE ABOUT.

When his pig is stolen one night, reclusive truffle forager Robin Feld (Nicolas Cage) goes to Portland to hunt down the thieves. On paper, it may sound like another B movie taking advantage of the famous Cage Rage, but thatā€™s not what this is. Instead we get one of the starā€™s most subdued performances in many years as a supremely gifted chef who abandoned everything after a tragedy. Always on the verge of saying something profound, Michael Sarnoski addresses grief in his directing debut and shows how powerfully a meal can affect us, but itā€™s never the kick in the gut it should be.

2021-U.S. 92 min. Color. Widescreen. Written and directed byĀ Michael Sarnoski. Cast: Nicolas Cage (Robin Feld), Alex Wolff (Amir), Adam Arkin (Darius), Nina Belforte, Gretchen Corbett, David Knell.

Trivia: Co-produced by Cage.Ā
