The Last Mercenary

THE DADDY OF ALL SECRET AGENTS.

When his son (Samir Decazza) is falsely accused of arms dealing and drug trafficking, a legendary secret service agent (Jean-Claude Van Damme) returns to France for the first time in decades. An action-comedy that both celebrates and pokes fun at its star’s legacy. Stuffed with references to his movies and 1980s culture in general, the film spends too much time on a story that nobody will find worthwhile, but it does benefit from the spectacle of watching Van Damme deliver kicks like it’s still 1989 – and dressing up in a number of silly disguises.

2021-France. VOD. 110 min. Color. Directed by David Charhon. Cast: Jean-Claude Van Damme (Richard Brumére), Samir Decazza (Archibald Al Mahmoud), Alban Ivanov (Alexandre), Eric Judor, Assa Sylla, Miou-Miou.
