Reminiscence

DON’T LOOK BACK.

In a future Miami that’s been hard hit by climate change, Nick Bannister (Hugh Jackman) runs a business where people pay to relive their memories; a new client (Rebecca Ferguson) becomes a haunting acquaintance. The best part of this movie is watching a fairly realistic portrait of what might happen to Miami once the worst effects of climate change happen; it’s like a nightmarish Venice. The worst part of the film is the script, a confusing thriller that wants to be all kinds of things, including a moving love story and a noir mystery.

2021-U.S. 116 min. Color. Widescreen. Written and directed by Lisa Joy. Cast: Hugh Jackman (Nick Bannister), Rebecca Ferguson (Mae), Thandiwe Newton (Emily ”Watts” Sanders), Cliff Curtis, Marina de Tavira, Daniel Wu.
