The Kitchen

In 1978, three women (Melissa McCarthy, Tiffany Haddish, Elisabeth Moss) find their mobster husbands thrown in prison; when the local mob boss refuses to help them out financially, the women start their own little operation. Andrea Berloffā€™s directing debut uses its locations and period flavors well. The soundtrack hits all the right notes and the three leads are colorful; McCarthy and Haddishā€™s sense of humor serves the film well. However, the shifts in tone are brutal enough to make you seasick and its feminist message is a bit on the nose.
