Shot remotely during the COVID-19 pandemic, this film consists of five monologues delivered by the cast into a camera. Playing characters ranging from a billionaire’s daughter to a nurse treating patients suffering from the virus to an archetypal New Yorker, the actors make the words come alive. Each monologue (benefitting from Paul Rudnick’s extensive theater background) is a humorous, bitter rebuttal to everything that Donald Trump stands for, even if there are no deeper insights here. Best part: Dan Levy as an actor pondering how and when to use his ”gayness”.

2020-U.S. Made for TV. 88 min. Color. Directed by Jay Roach. Teleplay: Paul Rudnick. Cast: Bette Midler (Miriam Nessler), Kaitlyn Dever (Sharynn Tarrows), Dan Levy (Mark Hesterman), Sarah Paulson (Clarissa Montgomery), Issa Rae (Callie Josephson).
