SHE CAN TELL HER BEST FRIEND ANYTHING. EXCEPT THIS ONE THING.
Elle and Lee (Joey King, Joel Courtney) have been best friends all their lives; falling in love with Lee’s hunky older brother (Jacob Elordi) might ruin everything though. A simple, breezy high-school movie that borrows from many better predecessors in the genre (Molly Ringwald’s presence carries a certain symbolism). Critics called it ”sexist”, but young audiences ate it up. Overlong and silly, but it has an agreeably light touch and sweet performances by King and Courtney in particular as the fun-loving buddies.
