Escape from Pretoria

In 1978, Tim Jenkin and Stephen Lee (Daniel Radcliffe, Daniel Webber) are sent to a notorious prison in South Africa after manufacturing leaflet bombs against the Apartheid regime; there, they begin to plot their escape. There were indeed white political activists helping the ANC during South Africa’s darkest years and this film chronicles a spectacular prison break that required a lot of guts, planning and ingenuity when it came to creating the all-important wooden keys. The last half-hour is an intense nail-biter; the rest of the movie is more of a mediocre exercise, but engaging enough.
