The Hunt

THE MOST TALKED ABOUT MOVIE OF THE YEAR IS THE ONE THAT NO ONE’S ACTUALLY SEEN.

A group of Trump-voting ”deplorables” wake up in the middle of nowhere as targets in a deadly game arranged by liberal elitists. The premiere of this horror-thriller was initially canceled after two mass shootings in the summer of 2019, adding to its controversial vibes. Inspired by The Most Dangerous Game (1932), the film is gruesome and funny, boasting a terrific, hard-as-nails performance by Betty Gilpin. As satire, it’s provocative and over-the-top, ending in a showdown that has little to do with the actual conflicts in Trump’s America. A wild ride, for sure.

2020-U.S. 89 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Craig Zobel. Screenplay: Nick Cuse, Damon Lindelof. Cast: Hilary Swank (Athena), Betty Gilpin (Crystal), Wayne Duvall (Don), Ethan Suplee, Ike Barinholtz, Emma Roberts… Amy Madigan.
