Birds of Prey

PREY FOR GOTHAM!

After the Joker breaks up with Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), she finds a new nemesis in a Gotham City gangster (Ewan McGregor), as well as potential new female allies. This spin-off to Suicide Squad (2016) is a minor improvement, failing to offer much of a compelling story, but taking good advantage of Robbieā€™s sinister charisma and introducing several new interesting characters that add weight to its female empowerment theme. Rosie Perez is fun to watch as a 1980s-style movie cop. McGregor is a weak villain, but the movie has a cheeky attitude and offers a decent amount of kick-ass action.

2020-U.S. 109 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed byĀ Cathy Yan. Screenplay: Christina Hodson. Cast: Margot Robbie (Harleen Quinzel/Harley Quinn), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Helena Bertinelli/Huntress), Jurnee Smollett-Bell (Dinah Lance/Black Canary), Ewan McGregor, Rosie Perez, Chris Messina.
