Swiss Army Man

WE ALL NEED SOME BODY TO LEAN ON.

After a failed suicide attempt, a marooned man (Paul Dano) finds a dead body (Daniel Radcliffe) on the beach and starts bonding with the corpseā€¦ This drama-comedy looks a bit like an indie version of Weekend at Bernieā€™s (1989), but has more to offer. Itā€™s a true acting challenge; in Danoā€™s desperate mind, Radcliffeā€™s character becomes a living, childlike man whose farts and erections take them on grand adventures. The film is a bizarre comment on existentialism and mental health, but canā€™t really move beyond its gimmicky attitude.

2016-U.S. 97 min. Color. Widescreen. Written and directed byĀ Daniel Scheinert, Daniel Kwan. Cast: Paul Dano (Hank Thompson), Daniel Radcliffe (Manny), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (Sarah Johnson).
