When Spencer (Alex Wolff) disappears, his three closest friends realize that he’s gone back into the video game that they survived together, and reluctantly follow his trail. The sequel to Jumanji (2017) has Dwayne Johnson’s, Kevin Hart’s and Jack Black’s avatars channeling different characters than the last time. While the film offers a few wild chases in 3D, and the sight of Johnson finding his inner Danny DeVito, it also has a story running on empty. Unimaginatively enough, the ending throws the chance of a Jurassic World-type sequel at us.
