Let It Snow

The original novel was subtitled ”Three Holiday Romances” and that’s what its young-adult writers offered, setting their stories in one small town. This adaptation takes place at Christmas time and introduces us to Julie (Isabela Merced) who’s trying to resist the charms of a pop star (Shameik Moore); Angie and Tobin (Kiernan Shipka, Mitchell Hope) who’ve been friends forever but may be headed for a change; and Dorrie (Liv Hewson) who has a crush on a cheerleader. Innocuous and bland entertainment for young audiences, but still sweet, with well-chosen songs.

2019-U.S. VOD. 92 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Luke Snellin. Novel: Maureen Johnson, John Green, Lauren Myracle. Cast: Isabela Merced (Julie Reyes), Shameik Moore (Stuart Bale), Kiernan Shipka (Angie/The Duke), Mitchell Hope, Liv Hewson, Anna Akana… Joan Cusack.
