The Addams family are on the run, but find a new place to live in a former New Jersey asylum that’s now haunted. This animated take on the old cartoon inevitably also borrows ingredients from the classic 1960s TV show. Sadly, no one involved here has done anything that makes the concept stand out in 2019 – except invent a female villain who shares numerous traits with the current U.S. president. Subtle it ain’t, but it does fit the theme of xenophobia. A step down from Hotel Transylvania.
