Hunter Killer

START A BATTLE TO STOP A WAR.

U.S. submarine commander Joe Glass (Gerard Butler) is assigned a new mission at the same time as a coup d’état takes place in Russia. A submarine thriller whose every scenario under the surface looks lifted from better movies in this genre. It’s a good thing then that the story also follows a Navy SEAL team headed by Toby Stephens taking up post outside a Russian naval base. As a conflict between the two countries heats up, so does the action. A guilty pleasure, but nothing in the movie looks genuine and Gary Oldman is wasted.

2018-U.S. 122 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Donovan Marsh. Novel: George Wallace, Don Keith (”Firing Point”). Cast: Gerard Butler (Joe Glass), Gary Oldman (Charles Donnegan), Toby Stephens (Bill Beaman), Common, Zane Holtz, Caroline Goodall… Michael Nyqvist, Linda Cardellini.
