Koko-di Koko-da

Tobias and Elin (Leif Edlund, Ylva Gallon) head out into the woods for a camping trip; they’re hoping to reconnect after a tragedy, but find themselves terrorized by three peculiar strangers… After his breakthrough film The Giant (2016), Johannes Nyholm made this odd, dark fantasy where a grieving couple face their merry demons, a band of performers who only have pain to offer, again and again. It’s Groundhog Day meets Deliverance, with echoes of Michael Haneke. Very creative, there’s even a shadow play involving bunnies, but it doesn’t really come to a satisfying conclusion.

2019-Sweden-Denmark. 86 min. Color. Written and directed by Johannes Nyholm. Cast: Leif Edlund (Tobias), Ylva Gallon (Elin), Peter Belli (Mog), Katarina Jacobson, Morad Khatchadorian, Brandy Litmanen.
