A Little Chaos

During the reign of Louis XIV (Alan Rickman), prominent landscape architect André Le Nôtre (Matthias Schoenaerts) surprisingly hires a woman (Kate Winslet) to contribute to the Gardens of Versailles. Rickman’s second film as director benefits from his own confidence – he was right to cast himself as ”the Sun King”; he’s magnificent. Stanley Tucci is also fun to watch as the King’s flamboyant brother. Sadly, the movie isn’t about them. The budding romance between the two leads holds little interest and they’re too bland, in spite of a few good scenes.
