FIRST CLASS PROBLEMS. SECOND CLASS DETECTIVES.
New York beat cop Nick Spitz (Adam Sandler) takes his wife (Jennifer Aniston) on a trip to Europe where they become suspects in a high-profile murder case. A prominent screenwriter lies behind this very conventional whodunit comedy that has a likable American couple clashing with a colorful bunch of murder suspects in glitzy European locations. The two stars (who worked together in Just Go with It (2011)) are amusing enough. Mediocre film for sure, but reasonably well paced, with moments of fun and action.
2019-U.S. 97 min. Color. Directed by Kyle Newacheck. Screenplay: James Vanderbilt. Cast: Adam Sandler (Nick Spitz), Jennifer Aniston (Audrey Spitz), Luke Evans (Charles Cavendish), Gemma Arterton, John Kani, David Walliams… Terence Stamp.
Trivia: Released straight to Netflix. At one point, Charlize Theron was considered for Aniston’s part.
