12 Strong

ON SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 THE WORLD WATCHED IN TERROR . ON SEPTEMBER 12, 2001 THEY VOLUNTEERED TO FIGHT.

After 9/11, Captain Mitch Nelson (Chris Hemsworth) insists on leading his Green Berets on a dangerous mission where they will join forces with an Afghan warlord. The Danish director’s feature film debut looks like it might be in good hands, considering his past as a war photographer, but this fact-based story ends up just another clichéd war movie without compelling characters and a much-needed feeling of authenticity. It’s a simple adventure on horse where bullets fly until the Taliban are defeated. In real life, the war would go on… forever.

2018-U.S. 130 min. Color. Widescreen. Directed by Nicolai Fuglsig. Book: Doug Stanton (”Horse Soldiers”). Cast: Chris Hemsworth (Mitch Nelson), Michael Shannon (Hal Spencer), Michael Peña (Sam Diller), Navid Negahban, Trevante Rhodes, William Fichtner.
