The Wave

IT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE. IT WILL HAPPEN AGAIN.

As a geologist (Kristoffer Joner) is preparing to leave his job in the Norwegian mountains, he discovers worrying signs of an impending disaster… The movie that brought the director to Hollywood is an old-fashioned disaster flick inspired by earlier, real-life events where enormous landslides in Norway caused tsunamis that killed a lot of people in otherwise sleepy communities. The danger is still there and the movie expertly takes advantage of that fear, with a spectacular, handsomely staged tsunami sequence. Well directed, but some of the tension is swept away after the wave hits.
