THE SYSTEM FAILED. SHE WON’T.
After the murder of her husband and little girl, Riley North (Jennifer Garner) goes off the gridā¦ until she comes back years later, prepared to exact revenge against those responsible. The director of Taken (2010) presents another character who develops a special set of skills and employs them in brutal ways against those who have wronged her. Basically, this is a simple Death Wish retread conceived without much imagination, but this time with a female lead. Garner is fine as the woman with nothing left to lose, but a mere gender switch is not enough when you have nothing else to bring to the table.
