THE WHOLE WORLD KNOWS THE HOLOCAUST HAPPENED. NOW SHE NEEDS TO PROVE IT.Â
After declaring the British historian David Irving (Timothy Spall) a Holocaust denier, American professor Deborah Lipstadt (Rachel Weisz) has to defend herself in court in London. After The Reader (2008), writer David Hare returned to the Holocaust as a theme in a reality-based movie that takes on the delicate issues surrounding such an emotionally charged case – are the facts of the Holocaust up for discussion and where do we draw the line? A fairly conventional trial drama, but engaging. The cast is a huge reason, including Weisz as the professor, Spall as the ”historian” who’s built a career out of admiring Hitler, and Tom Wilkinson as an ebullient attorney.
